RDR2: Companion is a free video game utility app that allows you to improve your gameplay experience with the highly-popular action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption 2. Developed by Rockstar Games itself, RDR2: Companion connects directly with your PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—letting you access your map, Journal, manual, optional strategy guide, and more features. With the app, you can use these without having to open them up in the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a 2018 video game developed and published by Rockstar Games. It is the third installment in the Red Dead series and is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption. The story follows outlaw Arthur Morgan as he tries to survive in the Wild West. It became a critically-acclaimed title that won several accolades. If you want more gameplay enhancements, however, you can try using its Companion app.
RDR2: Companion acts similarly to the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Companion App. It supplements your gaming experience, but it’s not a necessity to have a good time. It mainly features a real-time interactive map that shows points of interest, like locations and people, while you explore. Arthur’s in-game journal and the game’s official manual can also be accessed with this. This allows you to turn off extra HUD elements like the mini-map.
Aside from that, you can also acquire the digital Complete Official Guide by Piggyback®, packed with detailed information on the RDR2 world. It can be unlocked via a one-time in-app purchase and contains interactive menus. If you have a Rockstar Games Social Club account, you can connect to the app and easily see your completion progress, access the web version of the Wheeler and Rawson in-game catalog, and read RDR2 news.
Some restrictions
RDR2: Companion is a great complement to playing the base game, and any fan would appreciate its features. However, it’s only for those with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One—PC players can’t benefit from the app. Plus, it doesn’t work with Red Dead Online. Its functionalities also drain the battery fast, and you can’t pause them as they constantly update to keep up with you. Nevertheless, this app is highly recommended.
